As I was writing Silent Ties my own family history crept into the story in subtle ways. In the early 1960s my father bought my mother the dearest ring pictured here. As a little girl, I loved all the colors. When she wasn’t home, I would sneak into her jewelry box to adorn myself with her many pieces of jewelry. Two of my favorite objects were her birthstone ring and this dearest ring. I spent many hours in front of the mirror modeling these beautiful rings in pose after pose.
I chose this month, August 2019, to share my special memory in celebration of my parents sixty-third year of marriage. As I have welcomed you to witness Missy’s life, I invite you to admire this special treasure of my childhood.
Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!
